... and right
Today would've been my father's 70th birthday had he not have logged out of the great operating system of life 6 years ago.
Tonight a few of us got together for some celebratory drinks, and our family has a tradition now to always have a glass of red wine on the table when we meet up, as if he were there with us. Don't panic, it doesn't go to waste, we always finish it off as the last drink.
He was a long time keen photographer and at one point was even developing his own films in a make shift dark room he had constructed in a bag.
Later he embraced digital photography and spent vast amounts of moolah on new technology as it became available. Most memorable amongst these was the digicam that literally wrote its images to an inbuilt floppy drive at a rate of about 1 fpm. (Frame per month). He also had a camcorder that tracked the movement of your eye to focus on subjects in frame. Amazing technology, and even today there are people who don't quite believe me when I tell them about it.
A particular fascination of his though was stereo photography and this is what tonight's blip is honouring. He actually built a stereo camera by manually macgyvering two cameras together, including all the electronics so the shutters would fire simultaneously.
In maybe what is a first, this is the Right image of a stereo blip. You can find the Left image on my brothers blip (robgroucutt). If you feel so inclined put them next to each other on a screen, cross your eyes and hey presto.
Happy Birthday Dad. Love you. This one's for you :)
