Beware of the big bad wolf
We set off from Biescas today, and the first stop was the La Cuniacha wildlife park. We thought it would be mildly interesting, but in fact we ended up spending nearly three hours wandering through the woods, seeing various animals that have been native to the Pyrenees at one time or another in the last few millennia: deer, ibex, isards, lynxes, bison, brown bears, Przewalski's horses, foxes, and yes, wolves. The wolves were quite agitated because there were a couple of guys in their enclosure strimming weeds, so they were constantly racing about, difficult to catch. See Flickr album for some of the other animals.
After a restorative tortilla sandwich we drove to Ainsa. Then we went off to Guaso to admire the view and look at a possible house. It turned out not to be available, but the lovely lady there phoned another person in the village who had apartments for rent, and then her equally lovely husband got his car out and drove several kilometres to show us where the house was. The owner wasn't there, but from the outside it ticked all the boxes. Fingers crossed!
In the evening we climbed hundreds of steps to the Plaza Mayor in Ainsa. We'd decided we would definitely not patronise the very silly restaurant we ate at last time we were here. Instead we went for tapas at a nearby bar. It quickly became evident that it was part of the same enterprise when the waiter placed a paper cloth on the table, squirted swirls of allioli onto it, and then placed the pintxos directly on it (see extra). The rest of the meal was in much the same vein, culminating in candy floss-topped pudding, but it was actually pretty good, and not expensive.
