Today we headed down to Constable country and had a look at Flatford. Wasn't really our cup of tea! Probably better if you're a big Constable fan. But it was very small with a tiny exhibit and just a bunch of cottages and a mill that you couldn't go into, all private residences.
But we had a backup plan, and went on to Sutton Hoo, where they unearthed that Saxon boat burial in the 1930s. And that was great, and where I got this blip of the replica of the ancient Saxon king's helmet that they found. A very good exhibition with lots of info, painstakingly detailed replica artifacts (as the real ones are in museums) and an interesting walk out among the mounds and even a bit in the house of the lady that ordered the excavation. A full afternoon! Probably the best place we've visited so far other than Melford Hall. We found a Toby's for lunch which was very nice as well.
The next two days sound like they're going to be very sunny, warm even, fancy that!
