Exploring Bingley

The plan this morning was to take items collected at church to the Food Bank in Bingley but when we arrived at church someone had already done it!

We headed to Bingley anyway as there were some little bits of paths I thought we could explore for the next square I've adopted for the big path watch.

A short stretch of path went along the far side of the Leeds Liverpool canal at the lower Three Rise Locks. Nothing exciting but it led round the streets to the top of the Five Rise giving us a good excuse to call in at the lock side cafe for a coffee. Getting there we passed these lovely allotments in amongst some very nice houses.

The next few bits of path were around the parish church and the oldest part of town leading us to Bailey Hills Cemetery. It may sound rather morbid but it was really interesting looking around and very well kept. We often see it from the fields and woods of the the St Ives Estate above but I've never been in before.
The path continued to the edge of the Grammar School past some unexpected, hidden and abandoned tennis courts.

You never know what you might find including 4 students out for a sneaky lunchtime smoke, still they were very helpful.
