The Community Orchard

I went for a rather slow stroll round the lanes and found myself in the vicinity of the village community orchard. I only became aware of it's existence last year and I have never been in to see it, so I thought today would be a good opportunity to have a little nosy around. There were far more trees in there than I imagined could fit into a small field and all heavily laden with fruit but I was disappointed not to find a pear tree ( I like a nice ripe pear!!) just apples of many different varieties. Last year a notice went into the village newsletter telling everyone in the village that the fruit was now ready for picking and any villager could just help themselves, which is how I heard about it.
I must remember to make a return visit in the spring when the blossom is out, I would imagine that many apples trees in full bloom is quite a sight :-))
