The Welsh Bridge...
...is one of the two main road crossings (the other being the English Bridge) of the River Severn in Shrewsbury.
The Welsh Bridge was completed in 1795 replacing the original St George's Bridge which dated from the middle of the 12th century and later became known as the Welsh(man's) Bridge. More importantly, this is the 6th of the town centre bridges to have appeared in my blips. Two more to go!
This view is from the Shrewsbury side of the river towards Frankwell with St George's Church in the background and Theatre Severn just encroaching on the right.
This was the shot that I had originally planned for yesterday's blip and fortunately, as I had gambled, it was still here today whereas the Victor Meldrew lookalike might well have moved on.
I was unsure whether to blip it in B&W but decided to stick with the colour. After all with England playing tonight I thought it appropriate to show the flag of St George in full colour flying on the church of St George.
Thoughts of Homer J Simpson:
"Trying is the first step towards failure."
I hope that Roy doesn't say this to the lads before tonight's game!
