Busy day...
Hubby was off again today and, given that we have been quite lazy for the past few days, we decided to be more pro-active today.
This morning, we dug out a load of excess camping gear and dropped it off in town, along with a few other bits - the university have a drop off point to take items to the refugee camp in Calais, so we took it all to them. We had a tent, sleeping mat and sleeping bag, which could basically be an entire shelter for someone.
When we got home, we did the usual cleaning, but somehow got into a bit of an autumn-clean (I know, it's meant to be in spring!). We cleaned out various kitchen cupboards that were cluttered with things we don't use, making space for things we do use, which have been living on the kitchen tops, driving us mad. We then cleared out our fire basket, which had become cluttered with near empty bags of coal and kindling, along with bits of confidential post that never got burned last year. Hubby then cut some wood, ready for warm fires in the winter. Last winter was my first working from home, and our Victorian house is not the warmest. Despite spending an absolute fortune on gas, I was still freezing, so we have ordered lots of coal and got lots of seasoned wood to keep me toasty this year. I'm almost looking forward to winter now.
