The Victory Show

Instead of taking part / running an airshow we thought we’d go as spectators today! So we took the Beast to Cosby for the Victory Show and meet up with fellow airshow friends. This year is the 10th Anniversary of The Victory Show, which offers a formidable tribute to World War II. It runs for 3 days and is held over a 100 acre site. The Show provides Historical Societies and re-enactments through various forces from several era's and theatres during the period of 1939-45. From Airmen to Infantry, the Victory Show opens a window in time to the fabulous 1940's.
It was a lovely flight up and it was an easy approach in (following my fav Mustang!). One of the first aircraft we saw was this lovely Yak 3 (always good to see more Yaks!).
We meet up with familiar faces from the days of Rougham Airshow with Falcon Fire crew in attendance and Ian & his safety team. The fire crew kept us happy with cups of tea and a fried brunch … lovely!! It was Carolyn’s birthday too so plenty of fun & banter.
The flying was themed around WW2 with part of the show being the scene of a battle … which came to life during the 1st part of the flying display with the Germans (& Russians) carrying out a bombing run (complete with pyros) … and then the Cubs carrying out a reconnaissance mission afterwards.
The 2nd part of the flying display featured Spitfires, Seafire, Pitts Specials, B25, P51s, B17, Meteor, ME109, Yak 3, Cubs, Bristol Blenheim, Hurricane and Jungmeister. The Vulcan unfortunately had problems with the landing gear yesterday so did not come out to play. But those that did put on some fabulous displays, particularly the formations that they made up … B25 & 2x P51 … Blenheim & Hurrican … Spitfire & Seafire.

All in all a great day rounded off by a lovely flight home with great visibility … and a camera card full of pictures to edit!!
