Freedom Festival - Hull
We went to Hull today - Mrs madwill was running a workshop for a group of quilters there.
I walked into town which had been taken over by the City's Freedom Festival - a 3 day Arts & Culture show! The event is so called because of the links to William Wilberforce, a native of Kingston upon Hull, who was instrumental in the abolition of the slave trade.
There were lots of stages and performance areas (especially around the marina area) and street food of just about every kind. There were plenty of people about but it didn't seem too crowded.
I watched a few bands on the stages and there were some very good performances - I particularly liked this hard rocking trio, called Delta Vega , they were very loud and played some great original songs.
I was slightly taken aback when the lead singer encouraged everyone to get their 'ferns' out - vision of people waving potted plants - only to realise that he was actually saying 'phones' with a Hull accent.
As ever I have hundreds of photos to sort and process....
