Black Five 45407 - The Lancashire Fusilier hauling for SRPS Railtours.
This train was due to make two round trips today, passing this point at 10:25 and again at 15:05.
My blip was taken on the first run, and although the shot was under-exposed by a full stop, the steam was still almost all burnt out to pure white. I went back in the afternoon to try again but it wasn't to be. It was such a brilliant day that the air had warmed up and dried out so none of the steam was condensing. A big disappointment - no atmosphere at all in the afternoon shots.
I thought the best shot would be when the engine reached the furthest right point on the curve. Unfortunately, the steam was rising perfectly whilst in the cutting but once it emerged, the wind blew the steam horizontally and obscured all the carriages (see 'extra').
My location was looking over the Ferrytoll 'Park & Ride' just outside Inverkeithing, Fife.
