Young Goldcrests
I may have posted a picture of a young Goldcrest a week or two ago, but I can't resist them - they are such beautiful tiny birds. This one is moulting out of its juvenile plumage and is showing most of its gold crest, but it's too early to say whether it is a male (with orange centre feathers) or a female (just gold). Traces of waxy sheaths on the plumage show it's in body moult. The other picture - also taken this morning - is of another juvenile, but in this case it hasn't got far through its body moult and is showing no gold at all on the crown.
