Bee in Flight

I was sitting in the sun this morning listening to the hum of the bees and decided to set myself a challenge to see if I could get a close shot of a bee in flight.

A few hasty  backwards scrambles and a couple of irate bees later, I had this little chap. It is pretty much straight from the camera with just a little crop on one side and a tiny bit of contrast. It didnt need colour, that is for sure. The wing is blurred invisible even at 1/1000 - they must be revving up fast when hovering.

The extra is another bee deep in pollen  - just to show how brave I was at getting close.
