Saturday: Brooklyn Bridge

We had a very full day, on a number of levels. So, first the factual. Had a good breakfast at a local diner before walking over Brooklyn Bridge and all around Brooklyn Heights and the neighbourhood. We headed over to Chinatown for lunch where we had good dim sum but also a very bad main course.

We made up for it later this evening, though, when we had excellent dim sum in Greenwich Village. Prior to eating, we stumbled across a great jazz bar where we felt transported right back to the fifties.

We did have a slight incident in the hotel when housekeeping broke a perfume bottle, making for a very fragrant room! But, to their credit, they went straight out and bought a replacement bottle and had already taken care of that before we returned to our room. .

And then, this evening.......cue spooky music.........K. saw a ghost, or at least we are fairly sure she did......we were in an Asian restaurant and she went downstairs to the bathroom. As she went downstairs there was an elderly woman just ahead of her on the stairs. At the bottom, she turned, and looked K. direct in the face and said 'I won't be long', while putting her hand on K's arm. There was only one bathroom per gender so K., tired of waiting, went to the gents after about 7-8 minutes. To cut a long story short, the woman never reemerged so, after our meal, we mentioned her to the staff in case there was a problem. The toilets were empty, they said no one fitting her description had been in, and, as we were sat right by the door in a very small restaurant, we would have seen her leaving. But the waiter did say that he frequently felt someone behind him on the stairs.........I think we have left some nervous staff behind..........
