Eight Forty UK Time
By this time I have been up for six hours, it must be lunch time. Well I have managed two cups of coffee, the first of which was almost undrinkable. Lunch will have to wait a few more hours until we collect the car at Milan's Linate Airport. So far we have only got as far as Amsterdam..
The journey from Linate to Como was OK until we were getting close to the Swiss border. There was a massive tail back into Italy, instead of the usual route, the SatNav took us off the autostrada into Como. The traffic from Como along the lake was much as usual, it is always busy at the weekend. There was a very heavy hail storm as we were passing Como, accompanied with some lightening. The hail did a very good job of turning the countryside white, and of knocking masses of leaves off the trees.
After our arrival at the apartment I eventually worked up enough energy to go down to the supermarket. I have yet to look at the bill, but it seemed quite a long roll of paper coming out of the till.
On our return to the apartment we decided to open a bottle of Prosecco which we enjoyed while sitting in the garden in the sunshine. Then a walk down to the pizzeria where we both chose pasta rather than pizza.
