Humboldt Penguin

We went to Chester Zoo today as I attended a meeting for potential volunteers. The new Islands extension has just opened and the zoo have started to recruit people to interact with visitors. It sounded good fun and I enjoyed the presentation but the training courses are scheduled for when we are on holiday so I won't be able to do it at this time. Ironically we will be travelling to a place that is the native habitat of many of the animals.

I filled out an application form so I'm hoping I might be able to get involved in the next round of recruitment in April.

After the meeting I went for a walk around the zoo with kwdiane. The penguins are probably my favourites and I liked this shot but as an extra I have included a nice one of an oryx. We have seen these in the wild and they are lovely animals. It is actually only one oryx with his head turned around.

The more observant of you will notice that I have given up on my attempt to take a picture every time I attend a Chester game. I felt that the ones at home games were very samey and a bit dull but I will probably continue to do the odd one at away games which tend to offer different photographic experiences.
