Sunday evening included some beery builders, a few angry neighbours, and a slightly annoyed landlord. Our drains have been playing up for a while now, so when our neighbours realised theirs were too, they came to look at ours.
We lifted the cover on the patio to find it just a couple of inches away from overflowing height. In the corner by the compost bin there was a swamp developing, which we figured was a leaking pipe. I had to phone the landlord who didn't really seem to understand the severity of the situation. In the end they agreed to get someone to come and fix it in the morning.
That was this morning, then. Waiting in for someone to arrive. When they did arrive, it wasn't even them we needed. Back on the phone, this time to Southern Water, who were here within the hour. After about half an hour digging around in the swamp, he discovered that there was a drain cover there, buried under inches of soil. The block was there, and tree roots had lifted the cover, letting stuff leak out into the ground.
It's all sorted now, fingers crossed. Everything still slightly smells like poo though.
Went for a walk with G in the afternoon, to the castle and out towards St Catherines. Back to town and met people in Shakeaway for a coffee. In the evening I walked back down to Blockbuster with Graham and Piero, then watched X-Men and got popcorn all over Piero's room.
