I've been to London...

Well, not quite to see the Queen, but at least to have s lovely look around Buckingham Palace and a guided tour of the Gardens.  More later!

This is the little bit more later - we've walked miles having decided to ignore the tube, but we have seen some lovely bits of London we haven't seen before - notable the RAF memorial at the end of Piccadilly (will attempt an extra).  Worth going to see.  We also wandered down Old Bond Street, but didn't buy anything!

the guided tour of Buckingham Palace Garden was very interesting, particularly the concern throughout the history of it that the garden should not be overlooked.  Things are the same everywhere aren't they?  It's just a matter of scale!  The rose garden in particular was very beautiful.  I was disappointed that we were not allowed to take any photos in the house or the private part of the garden.  I get a bit republican at times like that...
