Cycling tours of London
Mr F wanted to go to the Natural History Museum to see the dinosaurs. So we did.
Although the British children are now back at school other children around the world were obviously not as we had to shuffle past the displays. I think that most people are fascinated by them. The extra photo is of Dippy the Dinosaur. He greats you in the main hall. Contrary to what most people want he is being replaced by a Blue Whale. I thought that I should capture him while he was still there.
Once we left the museum we followed a walk from around Belgravia and Knightsbridge from my Walking London book.
We started at the Albert Memorial. While we were looking these gentlemen turned up on their bikes. A man, their guide dismounted and started explaining the Albert Memorial. What a great way to be guided around London. And I presume that they then looked at the Royal Albert Hall too.
Until I walked the area following the book I didn’t realise that the land that the museums are built on was purchased from the profits of the Great Expedition of 1851. 6 million people visited it in 6 months. And some of the things on display at the exhibition can now be seen in the museums.
Although the weather was rather grey we had a good day and saw lots of things that we wouldn’t normally.
