Illinois tickclover
Or Desmodium illinoense is a plant of roadsides, pastures and hillsides. Its general habit can be seen in the extra. It gets its name from the seed pods which are covered with hooked hairs. They will cling to clothing or fur, resembling ticks. The flowers are small, less than half an inch long.
