What A Miserable Bunch!

Can anyone explain why it is, that as soon as the weather turns grey, the British put on their darkest, gloomiest clothes? Personally, I try to counteract the miserable weather by putting on bright colours. Judging by this queue, I'm definitely in the minority.

How about you? Are you one of the black-and grey brigade? If so - I'd like to know - why?
