Waterworks Wednesday
Somehow got sidelined yesterday without finishing the day's events.
!st September, infamous for being the day WWII started with the German invasion of Poland also has a less than perfect reputation with many as it marks the start of meteorological autumn in the northern hemisphere. And yesterday it lived up to its weather fame. To start with over 30°C and then at about 4:00 pm, autumn arrived, the temperature dropped to 20°C, the wind came and then the rain. Luckily it didn't last too long and just as we were about to do the evening dog walk, MrB turned up with a bag of goodies, some very welcome, one a framed reminder of the most embarrassing event of the last year, was less welcome! Thank you though Mr&MrsB. Ended up standing around the coffee machine for ages until it was nearly dark. As we went out to MrBs car the heavens opened and within 30 minutes dumped something like 16 litres/sqm.
During the day had also got a great email photo/card from the grandchildren in Ireland and they called in the evening. So a great day.
Now today - While the rain and even the cool morning were very welcome, it did cause some consternation as to what to wear for the morning walk. Totally overdressed went for a walk Angie had said was a useful emergency walk, boring but relatively dry and the dogs like it. Well Flash refused to get out of the car! He looked to be in a bad way too and so left him behind with the tailgate open and did the rounds with Luna.
The walk was near the new parish waterworks shown on the Blip. I have posted hundreds of boring Blips but this must take the crown. The Portaloo is I hope of a temporary nature and is removed soon before an autumnal storm knocks it over and the contents end up sinking through the ground to our water well. I personally don't find the area very attractive for getting drinking water. Rather than arable crops, I would prefer a bubbling alpine stream. Have to rely on the strict controls for the farmers on what they do/don't do and on the even stricter water testing controls - one says water is the best-controlled foodstuff in Germany.
Back home Flash wouldn't budge out of the car until I said I needed him to help round up the horses - Duty called and he sprang up and out like a 2-year-old! Once the dogs done, we had lunch and I collapsed. The last few days, the kidney stones have been rolling (about 30 so far!) but it seems some have got blocked again in the tubing. Not painful but unpleasant and makes me very tired. I should have got on the tractor and done a quick bumpy ride.
Angie rescued the evening and did all the "bedtime" animal tasks.
