Skagway
Our third port of call: Skagway.
This time, we opted for a small hiking tour through the Tongass National Forest. We took a short train ride from Skagway partly up the mountain, and then hiked as a group 2 miles into the forest. We didn't see very many animals, but we saw an incredible amount of fungi, moss, and lichen.
After the hike, we treated ourselves to a delicious meal in town. Dan had halibut pasta and I had a salmon pastry with halibut chowder and fresh salad.
Then we found a yarn store and my sore feet were immediately forgotten as I picked out a perfect silk/yak blend to be my commemorative trip yarn.
Another beautiful day!
