Sam, Tess and David Attenborough.

A morning rendezvous in London with Ewan and Nicky who eased us into the belly of the beast that is Kings Cross. We had posh grub and cocktails, talked of national treasures mentoring Nicky's writing, of head spaces and times ahead. Sam, Tess and I also took the chance to play in fountains and swing in hammocks.

But soon it was time for Life Story. We were completely awed and utterly quietened by David Attenborough. There he was in person, accompanied by a live symphony orchestra and beautiful life story footage of animal behaviour in full glory, all deliciously wrapped up in the velvety boxed surroundings of the Royal Albert Hall.

My words can't do justice to how good it was. I kept stealing glances at Sam and Tess, they were mesmerised. We were ever so lucky to be there and thank Dave's mum for the tickets.

Loitered in Kensington for a while afterwards, because it was a warm summer night in London and the crowds had disappeared (nicer than a warm summers night on union street, let's be honest, but, let's be even more honest, not a patch on a Christmas night in Edinburgh Old Town or a Summer's Night in Dublin).

Then it was back to our St Albans hosts to see Mo the birthday girl for cake and presents.

David Fekkin' Attenborough!!! What a wonderful experience for us all. Goosebumps and standing ovations from start to finish. Oh, and I cried, the footage and the music.....and David Fekkin' Attenborough, everybody cried!
