Cable Car to dursey Island
An early start to take the cable car to Dursey Island, a short but quite dramatic crossing across the swirling water of the Dursey sound, a narrow stretch of water separating the island from the Beara Peninsula. I was luck enough to make the trip with a friend whose mother was born on the island, he was very knowledgeable about the islands history, first stop was for a welcome cuppa with his cousin! Then we walked the length of the of the island through the three villages, there are only two full time residents now so lots of abandoned cottages and a few being renovated as holiday homes. The views were stunning in all directions, a picnic was enjoyed at the end before heading back on the heather covered hills. Please do take a peep at my extra photos.
