Markt Rettenbach
Early start to get the morning walk done before the heat gets too unbearable for Flash. Took the opportunity to drive through the local village, Markt Rettenbach and thereby do a Combi-Blip: Holy Monday with a church, Tractor Tuesday (see far left middle of photo), Weather report (see sky), Gourmet report (Indian run Pizza Express in one of the buildings on the right)next door to the local branch of our Butchers Fischbach (literally Fish Stream) and add in the odd Bavarian beer flag for good measure outside Gasthaus Adler
Markt Rettenbach lies on one of the several St Jacobs pilgrimage routes from northern Europe to Santiago de Compostela in northern Spain. The church on the right which was first built in the late 15thC is named St Jakobs (major). As in all good Christian villages, next door is the pub/restaurant Adler (Eagle) and attached to that the rectory!
Back home to prepare for positioning the glass panes. They will be making a splendid "zoo-like" wall on two sides of the chickens covered outdoor run. While our chickens have free run of the entire property there are times (rain/snow, bird flu virus scares/prohibitions, early morning, late evening fox protection) when this area is very handy.. It's about 6m x 4m. Not an easy job as the panes probably weigh around 100kg each and there isn't time to make a new concrete foundation so strong screws and wood will have to do.
In the evening after milking, Framer Franz and son Marcus came around and the three of us manhandled the panes in to place an temporarily fixed them. Lots of window cleaning and more construction work before they are fit to be Bliped.
Thanks, Marcus & Franz for that. We had to carry four of the panes about 20m - although all three of us kitted out with professional glass pane carriers, we had to take a break each time at the 10m mark.
