on the road less travelled
We then followed recommendations in the guest book and went to find the remote Phoenix Beach. Probably 10 minutes away by boat but 25 in the car; up a hairy winding mountain road, through farm land an area of wells that locals use for their water, onto a track just before the road runs out, then follow tyre tracks through fields with a the final few metres by foot. What a place, t was opened up just over a year ago after a business man from Ankara bought the surrounding land and built a good modern kitchen and restaurant in an architecture designed wooden structure along with a jetty for passing boats to drop in. The whole bay powered by photovoltaic solar power and served by water tanks up the hill. There are lots of boat stops in the area and it will take some time for this one to get a reputation and none visited whilst we were there. It was a special little bay and a friendly family living an isolated life caring for the place. The advantage being ourselves and one other family enjoyed to ourselves the secret place with all its facilities. Thats not quite true the beach was also visited by a mule, goats and chickens. This is the good life in the sun.
In extras is Dan pier jumping and a view form the (late) lunch table
