High flier

Today's Blip is of a rather rare plant, seriously endangered in fact in its native Chile where it's been traditionally used for basket making, due to its supple twining stems. 

Berberidopsis corallina is reduced to a couple of sites in Chile - we have what might be the tallest plant in Britain, climbing to 75ft and more up a larch. Hillier's Manual says that it can attain 4.5-6m on a shady wall!

The small fuchsia-like red flowers are usually pretty high up, so this is a telephoto shot. The extra picture shows the whole plant - you might see some red dots just right of centre two thirds of the way up - this Blip is one of them.
