At the trout fishery
Well, where else would a blipper find a heron?
I have to say, selling my car has been the best thing I ever did. You see so much more on foot. Today I went to the farm shop and passing the trout fishery/smokery I got curious and was going to investigate when I saw a very short section of footpath running between the watercress beds and the fishery which I never even knew existed.
There was an egret in the watercress beds and a heron floated in. I got a couple of shots before he flew off. Then looking over the other side of the path I saw what I thought was a plastic model heron put on the rail to deter the real one. It took me about 5 seconds to realise it was this guy! He let me take all the shots I wanted - he was set for the afternoon.
Some of you I know will wish I put him in colour, but the vivid green of the grass behind him seemed to totally overwhelm his grey plumage. So I just left a little colour in which may have been a mistake for others of you, but I liked it here anyway. I'd be interested to know what you think.
Have a good evening, lovely folks xx
