a rare blue sky day

Looking towards Derwentwater from Dodd Wood. 

We hadn't planned to go out today but with an improved weather forecast I found sufficient food for a packed lunch and we drove north.

After feeding the car park machine with lots of coins a steady ascent through the forest brought us to this viewpoint looking towards Keswick. Further on, from the top of Dodd, there were good views beyond Bassenthwaite to the Solway and Southern Scotland. 

Back home in the afternoon it was cloudy but still good weather for a Bank Holiday weekend.
