Mono Monday: Secret

These seeds of the Tipuana tree are so tightly enclosed in their sinuous winged apparatus it seems to take them a whole season to escape!

There must be some secret about the way these germinate because there are thousands and thousands of these seeds rotting in the streets in my area and I have yet to see any of them ever sprouting!
