Beach Finds
15.7C with plenty of cloud. Showers forecast for the afternoon. Zephyr.
Maeve the Deerhound stayed indoors this morning.
Maeve and I went for a walk after lunch. We went up to the church then continued out along the country road to Scryne. We turned right at Craigmill farm and went down the track to the shore road.
Then we had a little experiment. Since the level crossing I usually use to cross the railway line has been closed to pedestrians I tried the next level crossing along the line towards Easthaven. Unfortunately this level crossing is on the other side of the Craigmill burn so access to the part of the beach I normally walk on is limited to time when the tide is out and when the burn is not in spate and the fresh water level low enough to get across. Today the tide was about halfway in and the water level in the burn not too bad. I went down the beach a fair way towards the sea and picked my way across without mishap and Maeve just paddled across. So, for today at least, we had the chance to walk along the beach to Westhaven. Two ladies with a Labrador were making the crossing the opposite way (I suspect they are also locals who used to use the level crossing by Westhaven), but they didn't go as far down the beach and got their feet very wet. They seemed cheerful enough about it.
There were a few beach finds as we walked along, the nicest from the beach just on the Easthaven side of the burn. Along at Westhaven Valhalla A was out at sea. The dinghy was moored out at the seaward end of the channel through the rocks. Two small boats were moored near the beach. The red tractor was on the sand. There was one other dog walker (I have been forgetting to mention dog walkers).
We came back over the road bridge over the railway then carried on round in a long loop heading into Carnoustie and up the main road before turning along for home. Maeve has settled indoors again.
