A Pond At Last
Today has been mainly dry, with just a little rain. During one of the dry periods, we took a walk round the garden and looking at out pond discovered that there is water in it again. Our pond rises and falls with the local water table, but during the recent building activities, when our lawn had been stripped of topsoil, a lot of subsoil washed down into it, making it much shallower than it used to be; it still needs digging out. During the summer a great deal of vegetation, mainly weeds, grew in what had been our pond, so that it was not recognisable as such; it was just a dip in the ground. Now that it has filled with water, most of the weeds and other vegetation will die back, so that by next spring it ought to look a little like a pond, again, but it will still need to be dug out once it has dried out sufficiently. Today’s blip is of the water in the pond area.
