Wade's bridge

General George Wade was responsible for much of the road building in remote parts of Scotland in the 1700s. It's fair to say he connected the country, a bit like the railways did years later.
Apparently he regarded this bridge crossing the River Tay at Aberfeldy his greatest achievement. It was built in 1733 and stil carries vehicles.
His road building exploits inspired the lines 'If you'd seen these roads before they were made, you'd lift up your arms and bless General Wade' .
