Too many tourist?
When I was studying ethnology I wrote an essay about tourism in Iceland and used as source an article by Elke Dettmer: Moving Toward Resopnsible Tourism: A Role for Folklore (1994) and came to the same conclusion that tourists kill tourism.
Tourism is about 20% of Iceland's "industries" - a population of 320.000.
To day 16.000 tourists came to the country in 4 luxury liners and 40 airline jets - a 5% increase of people in one day. All of them want to see the unspoiled land... they do... and they spoil it...
The picture is taken from a very strange observation platform over the harbor. You can see 3 of the ships (2 on the left side of the big crane) and to the right all the new cars we are importing - why?
I don't know, but you guessed right, the mountain is Akrafjall.
