Truly Golden
A perfect morning to visit Golden Acre Park, Leeds.
First a walk through the park to the Yorkshire Wild Life Reserve,in the woods surrounding Adel Dam .We stopped off at the hides, which is where we saw several nuthatches as well as blue tits, great tits, etc. etc.
Just as we were crossing a little bridge, something caught my eye, as it flew up from the stream, and a kingfisher darted in front of us, and flew straight up the centre of the path and out of sight! Always such a joy to see one of these! Such a wonderful flash of deep turquoise blue.
Back through the park, and a stop at the cafe for coffee and toasted tea cake. MrC had a hot dog with loads of onions!
Lovely to sit in the sunshine, out on the terrace ,overlooking the gardens.
The extension of a lovely new conservatory is nearly finished, and will be most welcome when the weather turns cooler.
Then to have a wander round the vegetable gardens, and more flower boarders.
At this time of year I love to see the dahlia trials. Exhibited by members of the public.Such a variety of wonderful bright colours.
MrC is always interested in the vegetables too. Their tomatoes seemed to be doing better than Toms I'm afraid!
Also a bed of pumpkins, which are already huge!
The only downside to the day was this notice. SEE EXTRA PHOTO>
One of several posted round the park. People are also digging up the newly planted trees.
I hope they catch the culprits!
Many thanks for your kind comments stars and hearts for yesterday's blip.
I hope you have all enjoyed the Bank Holiday weekend.
