Dancing in the Street
Not quite Martha and the Vandellas but close to it. I remember the hit from way back in 1964. A real Motown classic.
Anyway, the good folk of Grau always have a bit of a party themselves to celebrate the end of the tourist season, when we get our village to ourselves again.
Francois, the guy in the red shirt, who is actually Italian, is one of the main organisers. He used to run the Hotel Ephebe on the river and when we first came to Grau the end of season party used to be about a dozen locals sitting round a trestle table on the quayside.
Now it is a fancy dress procession with proper dancers parading all round the centre of the village. Red and black seems to be the colour theme this year. They are heading for the car park on the seafront where they have cordoned off their own private area, with lights and music and seating for about 80 to dine later on.
We were invited to the dancing, but after all the not country dancing last night, we'll give it a miss and have a quiet night in. For a change.
