Inside Steffens

On the way to Florida, we ate dinner at Steffens in Kingsland, Ga.  It was so good, we stopped there for lunch on our drive back from Florida to North Carolina.  The extra photo is a view from the front of the restaurant.  I found Steppens on TripAdvisor,  and the reviewers were right on target.  This seems to be the epitome of South Georgia with friendly folks, absolutely great food, and a down home feel.  In the inside photo, you can see the big menu board that hangs from the ceiling with daily specials since there is a printed menu.  The board on the right rear wall tells about how everything is made in the restaurant, how many years experience two of the woman have together in food preparation (over 70), and how they use fresh vegetables from area farms.  It is truly a place you might not choose without direction (see the sign on the front claiming to be air-conditioned), but it was delightful.  They have been in business since 1948.
