Tales of the river bank . . .

We had a lovely sunny walk along the river to Thrum Mill this morning.  Just a perfect day for it, warm and no breeze, with the dappled sunlight coming through the trees.  The colours on the river were stunning, the reflections of the leaves and trees. Saw another ouzel, watched it for a while, and this time managed to get some marginally better shots of him.  Amazingly busy little bird, constantly dipping into the water, swimming under the surface and coming up with beaks full of fish.

In the afternoon Molly and Richard came over from Gosforth to see us, bringing lots of goodies with them!  Lots of old photos to look at too.  We had a drive around and Molly showed us some of her and my mother's favourite childhood spots, tracks they took up Simonside.  Explained lots of family history whilst driving along little narrow roads into the back of beyond, places you would be lucky to find on your own.

A busy day, we'll sleep well tonight!
