Postcard from Christchurch

The day started of raining and it only started to clear off later afternoon.

The memorial service for cousin who past away a few days ago was today. It was held at one of her brothers places. There are six siblings all together so lots of people were there. I pick up my cousin Mary and her husband and we went together as it was out in the country a bit and a hard place to find.

It was a lovely gathering and send off, then later in the day they were taking her ashes up into the mountains for scattering. We didn't go to the scattering. After I dropped my cousin May off I took a short walk around the southern side of the city I don't get to much.

This collage is of the new $53 million bus interchange that just opened  recently. It was the first time I have had a walk around it. They are still having a few technical glitches and some people don't like it.

I just about use this thumb nail shot on its own as I thought the two little girls running to get to push the button first was so cute!

The architecturally designed building has plenty of seating, is flooded with natural light and even features a rain garden that captures and treats water before it is released into the drainage system. It was designed with sustainability, accessibility and a high level of public amenity in mind.

The Bus Interchange incorporates integrated artwork by Ngāi Tahu artists. The artworks are based on the Narrative provided by Matapopore Trust on behalf of Ngāi Tūāhuriri Rūnanga. The narrative is centred around Ngāi Tahu migrations from afar, from the North Island and within Kā Pākihi-whakatekateka-a-Waitaha,(Canterbury Plains).
