The Black Boy
We met with Maureen, Ian and Beryl for lunch at The Black Boy pub in Knowle. Rebuilt from the original in 1790 closer to the canal to catch passing trade.
The name is a reference to King Charles II who was given the nickname by his mother when he was a child due to his dark eyes and skin.
The place was very busy but we managed to get a table and had a very nice lunch, cod without batter with new potatoes and salad, washed down with a pint of Tribute, in my case, and a good chat, though it was very noisy and we had to speak rather loudly to be heard across the table.
After lunch Ann and I went for a short walk along the canal tow patch and I took one or two photos. Later it was back to Stratford and Nero for post lunch coffee.
