a lifetime burning

Spring, Take 2

Flower Friday 28: Berberis Stenophylla

Not the bunch of yellow tulips you might have thought from the thumbnail, but some tiny yellow unseasonal flowers on a berberis bush.  This spiky shrub normally flowers in the Spring, but we have a bit of a second coming at the end of August, as it was pruned earlier in the year.  It also produces dark blue berries that will no doubt feature in a future blip with an Autumn focus ....

Don't be fooled by the background.  I had to wriggle around to get these tiny flowers framed against the one tiny patch of blue available in tonight's rather gloomy grey sky.  Still, its a bank holiday weekend and the forecast looks as though I should have a dry day for tomorrow's cycling training, which is very definitely a good thing.
