Hill at the Argo Mill sculpted
Today I took the rough hill and did some sculpting. Very easy with a drywall saw (sort of a super bread knife) and a rasp. It is just about ready for the sculptamold, color, and vegetation.
The mill is served by two sidings - one in front of the left most tower for dumping ore into gondolas. It continues to the right to deliver equipment inside the building- passing through the main building. The other siding is just in front of the loading dock for deliver of finished product - usually in bags.
The black lines to the left were an first thought as far as countours - but I moved the little bridge so the contours are no longer valid.
The red lines on the upper plateau are centerlines for the mine tracks - actually Nn30 scale. There will be a tunnel porthole (see what it was and will be here https://www.flickr.com/photos/wallyg/6210103088) just to the left on the plateau, now sort of a hole. The tunnel was really something - going miles and miles to get the ore from mines to the west.
The real Argo Mill is in Idaho City CO and dates to the late 1800's, and is larger than my model - so it is compressed but has the main features. See it at (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argo_Gold_Mine_and_Mill).
Next step is to carve all the other land forms.
