The Petrifying Well

Took a trip to Mother Shiptons Cave today. This is the Petrifying Well which people in the olden days thought had some sort of curse on it as it turns things to stone. But it is actually due to the high mineral content of the water which coats the objects as the water passes over them. People can leave objects hanging and it takes about 5 months for them to turn to stone. Really interesting place!
