The Anatomy of a Flower...
My shot today is a closer than close up shot of a Japanese Anemone.
I was experimenting this morning, just before the rain came with some Macro Lens Extension Tubes. This shot was about 10th in the series before the heavens opened .....and I quite like it but it might be a little too close. In shot you can see the Ovule, the Ovary plus the Anthers which putting it politely are the male reproductive organs...I might replace this later....
Anyway as I said tis raining very hard now & there are lenses everywhere which i must clear away before my beloved comes down from the hoovering & throws a dicky fit about the mess !! Not that she would..
Today in history in 1939 the first turbo-jet powered aircraft flew in Germany - the Heinkel 178. Fortunately for Britain & the rest of Europe Hitler decided not to pursue rapid development & the first German Jet Fighter only began to fly towards the end of the War. Had he decided to push development the result of the war could so easily have gone the other way. As we now know Sir Frank Whittle had already patented a design for a jet engine as early as 1930 but because the Air Ministry wouldn't back the project the 1st British jet did not fly until 1941....
Hey - its stopped raining !
