HAWK

Today we watched this magnificent bird glide around over our paddocks, he must have been watching something on the ground, because he seemed to be concentrating over a certain area. He never really came close enough for a decent photo, and from past experience they generally disappear as soon as they see/hear humans around.

Watching him for a while, we finally figured what he was looking for. There are several plovers nesting in the back paddock, and I'm sure thats what he was after, especially when one of the plovers chased the hawk for a bit.

This is the best of the photos, the sun was in the wrong place, and the hawk was really too far away, but he's still very recognisable, his talons are visable, and I like the way his wings tip up.
