virginian tiger moth

My daughter called me outside to see the "adorable fluffy caterpillar". He looked nice in the sun, but I poked him a few times so he would pose better, maybe show his face. He must have been snoozing, from having eaten SO MUCH of my zinnia. A little later I checked him, and he was wide awake, and showing his face, and devouring more of my flower. The macro lens does not flatter him, as you can see by his gruesome little portrait in the extra photo.
