Growing Up

Growing up I think is a good title for this juvenile Black-Winged Stilt, he's got quite a bit of growing and maturing to do, but just look at those legs! A very comical bird especially in flight with those legs & long beak, but also those red eyes are quite distinctive as well. As you can see his legs are brilliant for wading into deep water for food and also deep sticky mud, with that sharply pointed beak useful for probing around for tasty aquatic morsels.
