The Caber
A gloriously sunny day for the Crieff Highland Games - for the past few years it has been cold, wet and windy! This is a shot from one of the most traditional events where a kilted "tosser" aims to carry and then toss a large tapered pole called a caber. The athlete must carry the caber with his hands around the tapered end and flip it over so that the larger end lands first as near to 12 o'clock from the tosser as possible. It is approximately 5.9 m tall weighing a mighty 79 kg. Great entertainment.
