Stan Wood's Fossils

25 years ago, Stan Wood set up his shop in Cowgatehead to sell fossils to the good citizens of Edinburgh.

A school friend now manages the shop so we went along to show our support to his Silver celebrations. The free shark's tooth fossil with every purchase also had something to do with it.

Matt gave a fascinating talk about the history of the shop, the fossils and the 'industry'.

We acquired, among other ancient remnants of life, this 50 million year old fish* from a Wyoming lake.
