Seed pods....

....a whole cluster of them from our maple tree! They're dropping like crazy & it's only August!  I'm hoping it doesn't denote an early winter--heaven forbid--although all the (depressing) weather people are predicting a long, cold, harsh winter!! How can the winter season get any longer than from November to March??  
I cropped it like this as I thought the shape of the seed pod is so similar to a butterfly wing--no wonder they spiral so effortlessly to the ground!  Did you know these are edible? I didn't--I just read it online--never tried them, but I just might have to give it a go, so if I don't show up with a blip tomorrow you'll know it didn't go well!!    :)))
